Viking Age": Wednesdays-Sundays July 9-13 and July 16-20

In the middle of July the viking farm Årsjögård is crowded
with vikings who will show you and tell you what life is like in the Viking
Age. Each week there is a new theme. During these we focus more on a particular craft and sometimes there will also be craftsmen visiting the farm, demonstrating and selling crafts. There are many things at the farm you will be able to do or see every day we are open, no matter what the theme is. Guided tours around the farm, try viking food, iron forging, cast a talisman, read runes, games, stories and much more. Please note: we do not take cards, only cash. |

| July
9-13 : Textile handicraft and iron This week we domonstrate many different textile techniques such as sewing, spinning yarn, tablet weaving, dying cloth. We will also focus on iron and everything connected with it. We will work in the smith, show chainmail and weapons etc. Wednesday-Saturday: We roast iron-ore and build a blast-oven for producing iron. Sunday: We make iron! |

16-20 : Traps, animlas, hunting, archery + tar-making We tell you about hunting, show you different kinds of traps etc. There will also be archers at the viking farm showing and letting you try your hands on archery. For the first time we will also be making tar in larger scale at the viking farm. Friday-Saturday: We build a construction for boiling tar. Sunday: We boil tar! |

| Guided
tours Mondays-Fridays July 22-August 29 at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 A guide will show you around the farm and tell you about the houses, everyday life, myths, runes and much more. There are fewer vikings available during thees weeks, so please call or e-mail us before your visit. Entrance fee: Adults 60 SEK, children under the age of 15: 40 SEK. Children under the age of 6: no fee. |
